Plan your 2018 Estes Park vacation around the fee-free entry days to Rocky Mountain National Park this year!
Each year, the National Park Service offers free entry days into the parks around United States public holidays or Park-related celebrations. It’s a great way to make your Estes Park getaway even more affordable and take advantage of the free things to do inside the park like snowshoeing, hiking, or wildlife watching.
Rocky Mountain National Park fee-free entry days in 2018:
- Jan. 15, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- Apr. 21, the first day of National Park Week
- Sept. 22, National Public Lands Day
- Nov. 11, Veterans Day
The Park does offer free passes through other programs, like the Every Kid in a Park program for fourth grade students, as well as free entry for active duty military or citizens with a permanent disability. Seniors, aged 62 and older, can get a discounted lifetime pass.

Often, the park experiences more traffic during these fee-free days, especially in the summer, so plan ahead to get to the park early or later in the afternoon for better parking and less traffic congestion on the roads. During the summer, you can also utilize the free shuttle to get to popular trailheads.
Don’t forget, Alpine Trail Ridge Inn is now open year-round, so plan to visit during the quiet season to take advantage of a fee-free day and feel like you have the park to yourself!
