4 Reasons to Visit Estes Park in 2022

Estes Park, Colorado

While we are still living in a time of uncertainty, one thing is for certain, outdoor adventures and unique events await you with a visit to Estes Park in 2022. Every season offers something new and unique for experiencing Estes Park, as well as Rocky Mountain National Park. Discover why you should visit Estes Park next year and start planning your trip today!

Estes Park is a top destination

Over the years, Estes Park has been named one of the best places to travel, with its most recent recognition as one of the ‘top places to go in the west in 2022’ by Fodor’s Travel. Also designated in 2021 by TripAdvisor as the top traveler’s choice awards for top destinations, named best ‘mountain town’ in 2018 by Sunset Magazine, and awarded as a top destination for one of ‘America’s most scenic roads’ by Travel + Leisure – it’s easy to see why so many people visit Estes Park year after year.

Outdoor activities

Because of Estes Park’s location to the Rocky Mountains, there is an endless supply of outdoor activities to choose from. Discover stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking on Lake Estes, fly fishing on the Big Thompson River, hiking and snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park, climbing (both indoors and outdoors), and biking in town and on nearby trails. There is truly something for everyone to enjoy, no matter the season.

Outdoor events

Along with the area’s numerous outdoor activities, Estes Park is also home to many outdoor events throughout the year. From the Catch the Glow Christmas Parade and the Holiday Wine Festival in winter to the Whisky Warm Up and the free concert series in spring and summer, there is always something happening and it’s all outside! Plus, our biggest event of the year, Elk Fest, is also held outdoors in Bond Park for the safety of all our visitors.

Free days at Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park will continue with its free days in 2022. Known as the base camp to the Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park is the perfect place to stay when visiting the park. Use this three-day itinerary to help get you started exploring the park and all it has to offer. Do note, RMNP is still on a reservation system, May 28 – October 11, so be sure to plan in advance.
